Adolescent brains are different from adult brains. Adolescence now lasts longer than ever, and the adolescent brain is surprisingly malleable. These new discoveries show that the teen years are crucial in determining a person’s ultimate success and happiness. Dr. Laurence Steinberg, a leading authority on adolescence, will talk about the teenage brain’s potential for change, the elongation of adolescence as a developmental stage, and the implications of each for how we parent, educate and understand our teens during this intriguing “Age of Opportunity.” Dr. Steinberg is the author of many books for parents of teenagers, including You and Your Adolescent, The 10 Basic Principles of Good Parenting, and Age of Opportunity: Lessons from the New Science of Adolescence.
